Welcome to DesignXpression Blog Chronicles. This blog is for ladies who are natural, transitioning, and those thinking about going natural but don’t know where to start or what to do. I am Vivica Shade and I originally created this blog to discuss information related to web and graphic design (see note below). However, after I decided to embark upon my own natural hair journey on January 17, 2011 (transitioned for four months), I started using this blog to chronicle my own natural hair journey. I did my big chop (BC) on May 12, 2011 (the day after my birthday) and have loved this journey ever since! 8)
This blog will also be used to help you on your journey to natural, healthy hair and answer your questions and concerns regarding issues you may be experiencing during your journey. In addition, this will be a place where you can discuss products, hairstyles, methods, share information, offer makeup tips, fabulous ways to accessorize your new look, etc. I don’t claim to be an expert in anything posted on this blog. If I don’t know the answer, I will find it (love Google Search). However, I am learning just as you are, making mistakes, screaming at my hair because it didn’t turn out as I had hoped and visualized, and keeping it moving towards healthy, natural hair.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy while we take this journey together to chronicle our experiences in how complicated natural hair can be, but it really doesn’t have to be complicated. ![]()

Note: Due to a (huge
) mistake I made when making changes on my hosting site, I accidently deleted all the previous posts that were listed on this blog because I forgot to backup my site.
Before this happened, for several months I had been debating whether I should delete the web design articles and all other non-related articles I had posted on the site, but chose not to. Now, I look at the mishap as the answer to my debate and will now use this blog to chronicle my natural hair journey as well as offer news and information that would be useful to you. Luckily, I write and edit all my post in Microsoft Word, so I do have them all and the images are all stored on my external hard drive. So, as soon as I can get these articles re-posted, I’ll be back up and running.
